The first Grand Complication of the Nautilus collection
The collection of what is probably the most coveted and best-known luxury watch of our time, the Patek Philippe Nautilus, was expanded in 2018 to include a spectacular complication. Patek presented the Nautilus with a perpetual calendar at the most important trade fair for watches, Baselworld 2018. The reference 5740G is a solid Nautilus made of white gold, with a diameter of 40 mm and a dial that displays the month, day, date, leap year, moon phase and 24-hour cycle. A spectacular and extraordinary model. Despite the elaborate and very sophisticated design additions, the Nautilus with perpetual calendar remains true to the style of the classic Nautilus. With the classic blue dial and horizontal ribs, the applied luminous markers and hands and the mix of brushed and polished surfaces, the perpetual calendar fits perfectly into the Nautilus collection.
Grand Complication Nautilus
The Ref. 5740/1G-001 is not the first model with a perpetual calendar within the model families that follow the designs of Gerald Genta. However, it is something very special because it is the first Nautilus model with a "Grand Complication". Powered by the Ref. 240 Q caliber, the technology of this model has everything it takes to master the challenge of a perpetual calendar. Despite 275 individual parts, the watch measures just 3.88 mm in height. The most impressive feature of this Grand Complication remains its slim construction: it is the thinnest model with a perpetual calendar among all Patek Philippe timepieces. The total height of the Reference 5740 of 8.42 mm is simply a technical masterpiece compared to the total height of 8.30 mm of the simplest version of the Nautilus without a perpetual calendar.
Patek Philippe quality promise
The sapphire case back of the Nautilus 5740/1G allows you to see the caliber 240 Q movement. For a long time, Patek did not use transparent case backs because the movement was only intended for the watchmaker. However, Patek quickly realized that watch fans were fascinated by the transparent case back - since then, everyone can enjoy the aesthetics of the hand-made movements. The watch movements are nothing less than perfect and stand for the highest reliability. The high-quality decorated and refined movement also bears the Patek Philippe seal. It is a quality seal developed by Patek Philippe that ensures that the watch has been manufactured according to strict standards. Patek's quality is also reflected in the bracelet, the case, the dial and the entire watch. The lifetime guarantee on Patek watches, which have been manufactured since 1839 , ensures that the watch manufacturer can maintain and repair them. Patek Philippe makes watches for a lifetime and for the next generation and underlines this philosophy with an extremely extensive guarantee. The Patek Philippe seal is more than just a seal.
The Nautilus 5740/1G is made of white gold and combines the most modern watchmaking technology with a very sophisticated design. What's special about it: Patek doesn't skimp on the highest possible workmanship even when it comes to the details: gold is even used on the moon phase disc. Two golden moons and stars can be seen on the sapphire disc. A thin white gold case, a beautiful blue dial with the typical Nautilus motif, combined with exceptional watchmaking - the perpetual calendar. The white gold has a natural, soft shimmer that you don't find in the stainless steel versions of the Nautilus.
The 5740/1G-001 is the combination of one of the most beautiful watch designs in the world with one of the most interesting complications of today.

About the watchmaker Patek Philippe
The name of the Swiss watch house Patek Philippe stands all over the world for tradition and class combined with innovation and perfection.
The company's origins date back to 1839, when Antoine Norbert de Patek and Francois Czapek founded the watch manufacturer "Patek, Czapek & Cie". Even then, the company's aim was to produce nothing less than the best watches in the world.
From 1851 onwards, de Patek developed the innovative ideas together with Jean Adrien Philippe and Vincent Gostkowski - Czapek had since left - under the banner of the new watch house "Patek Philippe & Co". They reached their first high point with the invention of the winding crown, which made the extra key, which was a constant companion at the time for winding the movement and setting the time, superfluous. In doing so, they fundamentally changed the use of watches and were consequently able to count colorful figures from history, such as the British Queen Victoria Elizabeth, among their customers.
In 1868, the company produced the first Swiss wristwatch for Countess Koscowicz of Hungary, with principles such as perfection and innovation continuing to be the maxim. With their well-thought-out design solutions, they have dominated the market ever since, with entrepreneurs Charles and Jean Stern acquiring a majority stake in Patek Philippe SA, which was already a joint-stock company, in the wake of the global economic crisis in 1929. The manufactory is still owned by their family today.
A large number of technologies and inventions can be traced back to the world-famous Patek Philippe watchmaking company. With the crown winding and the minute repeater, the company laid the foundations for today's automatic watch. In 1947, Patek Philippe also presented the world's first wristwatch with a time zone display and still holds over 100 patents today, thus asserting its pioneering role in the art of watchmaking.
